DIY time!!! Home fall fashions for the frugal/cheap/poor

Photo by Payje Bier/Payje Bier Photography (www.p-b-photography.com)

I recently posted about the great prices on autumn decorations at the Hob Lob, but I neglected to mention that even at the great prices, I was too cheap to buy them.  Well, cheap is not the word, I think cost conscious would work a little better.  Nonetheless, the inner call to decorate was still urging me on, so my ambition took me online.  And lo and behold, I found a series of projects to "fall up" my house without having to step foot into the store.  Today, I made these little punkins.  They are so darn cute, and the best thing about them is that they ALREADY match everything in my living room because they are made from left-over fabric from other living room projects.  They were really easy to make, I used this great tutorial from Thompson Family-Life.  She has great step by step instructions, so instead of trying to piece it all back together myself, I am just going to send you that way!  There will be more funsie decor to come, for F-R-E-E!

Here's an idea for you:  If you are just catching the craft bug and don't have a closet hoard of chopped up fabric pieces like I just happen to (don't judge I'm not ashamed), you still have a couple of options.
1.  Old clothes.  For real.  If you don't like them on your body, cut them up and put them somewhere else!
2.  Remnants.  Fabric stores have remnants and clearance fabrics marked down to mega cheap.
3.  The thrift store.  You can find both clothes AND fabric here.  If you choose this route, make sure and wash your selection prior to putting your hands all over it.
