Photo of the day

When You're Downtown
Photo by Payje Bier/Payje Bier Photography

I was walking around Old Town in Silver City today, and it is a really neat place!  After driving in yesterday, I wasn't sure how I felt about the place, but after doing a LOT of walking, driving, and exploring today, I realized that this town has a TON of history, and a TON of character!  The main street of Old Town takes you back in time to somewhere between the Old West, and the 1950's and 60's.  Surrounding the small Old Town area are steep steep hills criss crossed by tiny little streets which are lined with super colorful (although often dilapidated) houses.  There are lots of hidden coffee shops and art galleries, and a really beautiful old mission church that was built in 1874!  I'm so glad that I got the chance to form a second opinion of this quirky town!
