I took this picture outside of my Grandma and Aunt's house.  The hummingbirds were a little too quick for me today, but I'll get them tomorrow!  These little birds just seemed to sit and pose for me!

End of the month

this is not an original photo, I found it on Flickr

Sorry about the lack of posting, I am once again on the road!  This time in Virginia to visit my Grandma.  It is SO amazingly beautiful, absolutely what you think of when you think of "America".  The trees and grass are green everywhere you look, and driving through the mountains you come across tiny towns that seem like they have been left behind in time.  Old trucks sit in front of old signs on old gas stations.  People stroll across the street wherever they want to because there aren't any stop lights, and no one has a fear of being struck by a reckless bus driver.  Doors to cars aren't locked, and everybody waves at you like they know you.  I am pretty much in love with this place.  Many of the buildings date back from the 1700s, even the 1600s.  It is truly a unique and beautiful place.  There will be photos coming soon!
Anyway, Virginia aside, don't forget that tomorrow is the last day of July!  This means that there will be LOTS of new coupons coming out over the next couple of days, so no matter what your choice of activities is for the weekend, DON'T forget your Sunday papers!  Enjoy your weekends everybody!
I will try to continue posting throughout the week, however even though I did bring my computer this time, there seems to be a wireless shortage here, so we'll see how things work out!

Using up your coupons

So... after scouring my coupon binder, I took a little trippy to Wal Mart and Tarjay Boutique to explore a section called "travel size."  For the most part, almost ALL coupons say "excluding trial size," but SOME coupons don't, or they will say something like "1.7 ounces or larger" which is travel size.  I stocked up on some miniature things that I knew I wouldn't use coupons for on anything else, here is what I found:

Target
Pantene shampoo and conditioner (travel size)
                .97 each
1.00 off of one mfr coupon (it was black and came out of a SS or RP a little while back
                .03 money maker
Tide detergent (single load size)
                .97 each
.50 off of one Tide detergent mfr coupon
.50 each (not great at all but  I’m travelling soon so it makes sense for me)
Wal Mart
Old Spice Fiji Fresh Collection deodorant (travel size)
                1.00 each
1.00 off wyb 2 mfr coupon
Buy one Fresh Collection item, get a body spray free
1.00 for 2 deodorants and 1-2 body sprays, depending on how many coupons you have
I bet you can find more, this is just what I got.  It's a great way to use up the coupons getting free stuff, even if its itsy bitsy!

Crackle Nails!

I have been admiring crackle polish from afar for a long time now.  It looks so neato!  The only thing is...WAY too expensive!  But, Rite Aid has a coupon on their Facebook page right now for not 1.00 but 3.00 off of one Sally Hansen Crackle polish.  Looks like they're bringing rock star nails to the people! If you are one of the unfortunate few like me who don't have a Rite Aid in your city, print the darn thing anyway! You may find yourself in another town with a Rite Aid, or you can go see if Wal Mart has the crackle polish, because they accept all manufacturer coupons.  Good luck!

I win!!

Found this gem in my mailbox yesterday!  It's from the Wonderful Pistachios giveaway on Facebook.  I thought that since I didn't get anything in my email, I didn't win a coupon... BUT I DID!  This just goes to show the importance of adding ALL the brands and companies you can think of on Facebook, and entering any contests that they have, because hey, you never know!  I won a 9.99 bag of pistachios and I never win anything!

Easiest ever fresh salsa

Photo by Payje Bier/Pagina Bonita Photography (www.p-b-photography.com)

This salsa/pico de gallo is SO EASY! There are only a few ingredients, and all you have to do is chop them up and mix them together to create a beautiful, delicious, and colorful salsa!  It's also very cost-effective.  You can pick up the ingredients to make it for about 3 bucks!

What you need:
3 cups of chopped tomatoes (about 2 large tomatoes or 4 small tomatoes)
1 small onion (I prefer yellow, but you can use any kind you want, you can also sub green onions if you're feeling frisky)
1 bunch cilantro (you'll only need about 1/5 of the bunch, but that's how you have to buy it.)
1 garlic clove
1 bell pepper (again, you'll only need half but you have to buy a whole one duh!)
2 serrano peppers (you can also sub jalapenos, but I like my salsa hot!)
1 lime, cut in half
Salt

What you do:
Chop everything up!
Now that everything is chopped, place the tomatoes in a large bowl.
Add onions, you may want to use the entire onion, or just half.  It depends on how much you love onions.
Chop cilantro and add to taste, I usually use about a quarter cup
Put in half the bell pepper, save the other half for something else.
Add full minced garlic clove
Put in your peppers!
Finally, squeeze one half of the lime into the salsa.  Put the other half aside for now, and wait until the salsa has had a chance to set for a while, because this will change the flavor and you'll know then if you need more  or not.
Add salt to taste, cover salsa and chill for about an hour or so.  The longer you chill, the more flavorful your salsa will be.  See?  I told you it was easy!

Note about peppers:  1st and foremost, be SO careful with hot peppers!  You absolutely do not want to rub your eyes after cutting peppers, and make sure that your hands are scrubbed to the bone before moving on and touching everything else!  2nd, when cutting peppers, the more seeds in the mix, the hotter the salsa.  I leave in all the seeds because like I said, I like it hot.  You can experiment with different heat levels.  Save some of the seeds aside and add them in as needed.  It's a lot harder to take the spice out than to put it in!

Sprinkle Heart
Photo by Payje Bier/Payje Bier Photography

I took this picture in Utah after we bought a bunch of fireworks (apparently in Utah they sell fireworks all the way through July because they have another state-wide holiday called "Pilgrim Day".)  Being from Albuquerque where fireworks are not only banned, they are BANNED, we felt extremely lucky to get a second chance at the 4th of July!

Atheno's Yogurt coupon on Facebook

Athenos just added a new coupon to their facebook page for 1.00 off wyb 2 Greek yogurts.  I really like Greek yogurt, but I've never had this kind, mainly because they don't sell it in ONE SINGLE PLACE here in Albuqueruqe!  Where in the world is it sold?  If you can find it or know where to buy it, first print your coupon, then let me know.  Head over to the Atheno's Facebook Page to print your coupons.

The end of the month is almost here

A fairly severe level of anxiety is setting in for me because I am realizing that about 80% of my coupons expire on July 31st, and I am also realizing that there is just no way I am going to be able to use almost any of them.  This is a sad, sad feeling, but not an uncommon one.  This happens pretty much at the end of every month, and when it happens to you, you need to be careful!  I know I have said it before, but I will say it again: DO NOT use up all of your coupons just because they are about to expire!  Chances are if you really needed it you would have used your coupon for it in the first place, and if you were holding the coupons waiting for the great deal and it never came, you probably didn't REALLY need the item that badly.  Just remember, the same coupons will almost certainly come out again in the next month or two, so don't spend up all your money just because it's the end of the month.  I have to repeat this to myself every day too.

New Crackerfuls coupon?

Not sure if this is a new promotion, or just the old one reset??? Anyway, head over to the Ritz Crackers facebook page to print a .75 off of one Ritz Crackerfuls box coupon.  These are really good, I like the bacon cheddar kind (you might think it sounds gross but wait until you try it!), and they make a great snack to take with you because they're individually wrapped.  Don't wait, do it now, Facebook offers go fast (and don't forget to print 2)!

Kmart doubling coupons this week!

Like always, I wanted to make sure that this was for real before posting it since Kmart is notorious for being sheisty about their coupon policy, but it is indeed legit.  Kmart stores (not all but most) are doubling coupons up to .99 for the remainder of the week (to find out if your store is doubling, check the circular that you got in your paper. It should say somewhere in the ad).  This means that if you have any coupon up to .99 it will be doubled.  For instance, if you had a coupon for .50 off of something, it would double to a dollar.  .75 off would double to 1.50.  .99 would double to 1.98.  However, a coupon for 1.00 off of something will still be taken at 1.00.  This makes for some sort of ok deals, I really didn't find too much. Here is what I bought:
Chex Mix
                2 for 3.00
.50 off of one mfr coupon (doubled)(use 2)
                1.00 for 2 (.50 each)
Bugles
                2 for 3.00
.50 off of one mfr coupon (doubled)(use 2)
                1.00 for 2 (.50 each)
Seattle’s Best Coffee single cans
                1.57 each
                FREE mfr coupon
                2 FREE
Mr. Clean Multi Surface Cleaner
                3.49 each
.75 off of one mfr coupon (doubled)
                2.00 each
Febreeze spray
                2.59 each
.50 off of one mfr coupon (doubled)
                1.59 each
 Total out of pocket=6.03

Monsoon Season
Photo by Payje Bier/Payje Bier Photography

When this storm hit last night, I snatched up my camera and tripod, and kicked myself for not being in a more awe-inspiring location.  The lightning was CRAZY!  If only I had been in a more panoramic spot and not in my front yard with a building blocking the view.  Oh well, I know for tonight that at the first sign of storms, I'm heading for the hills!

Glade coupons

There are quite a few new Glade printables up this morning, these are great to print and hold because they can often be stacked, or used for deals at CVS or Walgreens to get Register Rewards or Extra Bucks.  Head over to coupons.com to print, use zip code 78660 if you can't find them!  Also, there are a bunch of Target specific coupons (i.e. 1.00 off Nabisco items, 1.00 off Kraft cheese, etc.) that AREN'T on the Target site for some reason... hmmmm. Well, print those too while you're over there!  Depending on the wording of the coupons, you may or may not ACTUALLY have to redeem them at Target.  Give it a shot.

You don't have to go all the way to Cali to get a delightful meal from this glorious establishment any more! There are In n Outs in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas!  I saw it driving down the highway yesterday and we HAD to go today!  It was probably the best burger and fries ever, and SO cheap!  The cheeseburger meal is only 5.00 (don't forget to order it Animal Style!)

.75 off of ANY brand milk?

I don't know If this is for real because I found this coupon on the coupons.com app on my phone, but the first coupon on the list was a .75 off of ANY brand milk. This is a rad coupon if it really works and I would print as many as possible because coupons for milk don't come out very often, if ever! If anyone else is able to find this, let me know!

Leaving on a jet plane

Today Justin and I are heading out to Salt Lake City to visit family, woo vacation! I'll probably be posting less over the next couple days, but I'll try to stay somewhat in touch (iPhones are incredible things!) but don't fret because I will still be doing matchups on Sunday! Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Christmas at Kelly's

One of the coolest looking restaurants in town all lit up by luminarias, one of my favorite parts about Christmas time here!

New printables

Head on over to coupons.com for some sweet new printables today! (Use zipcode 90210 if you're having trouble finding them)
1.00 off of one V8 Fusion+Tea
These are at Target for 2.99 each, and stacked with the Target coupon for 1.00 off wyb 2, you will get them  BOTH for 3.00 (1.50 each)
.55 off of one Dole Salad bag
This one says redeemable only at Ralph's, but I wouldn't hesitate to try it somewhere else, because it's not REALLY a store specific coupon, it's more of a manufacturer store specific coupon.  I dunno.  If you can find Dole Salad at Wal Mart they will take it as they accept all competitor coupons.
1.00 off of one Skintimates Shave Cream
This is great because these go on sale often, and are easily stackable.

Do-ho-ho-nuts! Dealio!

Today's Albuquerque Groupon is 50% off Duke City Donuts.  I've never had food from here, but I DO love donuts... just thought I'd give the heads up.  And I know I've said it before, but if you're not signed up for Groupon yet, DO IT NOW!  Click here to sign up. And do it for multiple cities, because there are a lot of internet deals that they do where you can just order stuff from online and you don't even have to be in that city.  You are getting every single deal for more than half off!  Honestly, it's pretty much stupid not to do it.

Grocery Store Matchups for this week!

SO, as you can see, I added a new store into the mix (Safeway).  This is for my homies in other places (specifically Colorado) that might not have a Smith's or Albertson's nearby.  I was going to do City Market too, but I realized that it is almost identical to the Smith's ad (and I am assuming that this will likely be the same for most of the Kroger brands) so if you want to know what's going on at City Market this week, just look at my Smith's matchups.  I'm kind of jealous now that I did Safeway, because there are some super duper deals that I would love to be taking advantage of!  Here are your grocery store matchups for this week!

For all you chocolate lovers

Apparently this coupon was available yesterday, but I could't find it under any zipcode, and therefore I did not post it!  But today, it IS available!  Head to coupons.com and use zip code 90210 to get a coup for 1.00 off of one bag of Dove Promises... Hold on to it because I have a feeling they'll go on sale at Walgreens or CVS here soon.

Bernalillo Building

I took a little field trip to Bernalillo today (well sort of a field trip, sort of on business).  Last time I was there was to photograph a wedding at El Zocalo Plaza, which is a really really really neat venue that used to be a community center about 100 years ago.  They have restored it today into a beautiful location for weddings and events.  Anyway, today I got to explore Bernalillo a little bit more, and it captured my heart.  It feels like you have all of a sudden arrived in a small town after having only left Albuquerque minutes before.  It is MUCH greener than Albuquerque (probably because of it's proximity to the Rio), full of old buildings, churches, and colorful signs, and it has such a unique and inviting feel to it.  I was truly surprised!  I got a few pictures before returning to Albuquerque on the back road, which felt like driving through farm country.  Who knew that something so cool was so close!

Good morning coupon lovers!

Since tomorrow is my boyfriend's birthday, I thought I would do a little post here about where you can get F-R-E-E (my favorite word) birthday stuff!  There are all sorts of places, here are some of my favorites, and the ones that we will be hitting up tomorrow!

1.  First and foremost, above all else, Krispy Kreme.  This lovely establishment will give you a dozen donuts,
free of charge, on your big day.
2.  Ihop.  Signing up for the Pancake Revolution at Ihop gets you a full free meal that you can use anytime
throughout the week of your birthday! Can't beat that!
3.  Fuddruckers.  Sign up here for the Fuddrucker's email club, and they will send you a coupon for a free
birthday burger!  I've never eaten at Fudd's, but I used to walk by it every day when I worked at
Victoria's Secret and it smells so good it's almost impossible not to go in and sit down!
4.  Red Robin.  Signing up for Red Robin's email club will also gain you exclusive birthday access to a free
     cheeseburger.
5.  Baskin Robins.  One more email club to sign up for gets you one more birthday freebie.  Baskin Robin's
will give you a free scoop of ice cream on your birthday for signing up!

So, as you can see, you can plan on not cooking anything on your birthday (and maybe for the entire week of your birthday!) with all the free food you will be eating.  Hope this helps you guys with upcoming birthdays!
